None other than Stephen King recommends Netflix's new thriller movie, I Came By.
Stephen King recommends a new Netflix thriller starring 1917 's George MacKay, called I Came By. MacKay got his start in the 2003 fantasy film Peter Pan, where he played Lost Boy Curly. He went on to act in a handful of films and television series, including two war movies - Defiance and Private Peaceful. In 2019, the actor starred in the critically acclaimed Sam Mendes-directed World War 1 film 1917.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Recently, MacKay played the lead in Netflix thriller I Came By. In the film, which also features Hugh Bonneville, MacKay portrays a young graffiti artist and activist who targets the homes of the wealthy and powerful. When his character discovers dark truths about Bonneville's character, he gets in over his head and lands himself and those around him into an increasingly dangerous situation.
Based on King's tweet, I Came By will definitely get more interest from viewers. His references to Ruth Rendell and Patricia Highsmith offer fans of those mystery/thriller authors an idea of what is in store for them with the Netflix film. The film shares another connection to King besides its genre - its leading man, MacKay, played a small role in the King adaptation 11.22.63 on Hulu. Clearly, King was pleased with his portrayal in that series and in his new film.
The thriller film is available now for audiences who decide to take King up on his horror recommendations - a wise choice for any fan of the genre. Evidently, King wasn't the only one watching I Came By, which enjoyed a stint as one of Netflix's top 10 films afters its release. Netflix boasts an ever-growing catalog of horror and thriller movies and shows, so viewers will be able to find plenty more content like I Came By once they've watched the film.
