Texas Rep. Bryan Slaton plans to introduce legislation to ban minors from drag shows. In a series of tweets, Slaton said “Drag shows are no place for a child.”

Slaton’s announcement comes after alleged videos online showed children attending a drag show. June is also Pride Month, which celebrates the pursuit of equal rights for the LGBTQ community and celebrates the accomplishments of LGBTQ individuals. Throughout the month, cities celebrate Pride with a wide variety of activities, including drag shows.

In his announcement, Slaton also said he plans to continue to push legislation that would classify gender-affirming care as “child abuse.” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a directive earlier this year to allow the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate families who seek gender affirming care for their children.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia, echoed Slaton on Twitter Monday, writing, "It should be illegal to take children into Drag Queen shows and strip clubs," though it wasn't immediately apparent what prompted her concerns about adults taking children to strip clubs. And there should be no federal funding for any school that intentionally confuses children about gender/sexuality.— Rep.
