An upcoming Star Wars show centered primarily on the dark side of the Force could set up one of Ashoka season 2’s biggest Force-centric threats.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT 2024's The Acolyte - a show centered on the dark side of the Force - could be utilized to set up Ahsoka season 2's biggest possible threat. The Acolyte was confirmed as an upcoming Star Wars TV show in 2020 and was revealed to take place in the era of the High Republic, 200 years before Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
Given The Acolyte is set before The Phantom Menace, any connections to other Star Wars projects of the Skywalker Saga are unlikely. That said, The Acolyte could prove to tie into an unexpected Star Wars project: Ahsoka. Ahsoka season 1 aired in the latter half of 2023 and foreshadowed huge, Force-centric villains for Ahsoka season 2's story which could be set up by The Acolyte in a highly-intriguing way.
While many assumed this would be through exploring how Darth Plagueis - the Sith Master of Emperor Palpatine - rose to power, the show could go somewhat deeper. Just as properties like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and now Ahsoka have explored the mystical elements of the light side of the Force through the Mortis Gods - all-powerful Force deities - The Acolyte could do the same for the dark side.
If Peridea Is The Origin Of The Dark Side, The Acolyte Can Set Up Its True Threat Firstly it is worth exploring how Ahsoka's ending set up its own exploration of the dark side. Baylan Skoll journeyed to Peridea, a planet in a neighboring galaxy, to answer a call from an unknown source that he thinks has the power to end the cycle of extremist regimes in the Star Wars galaxy.
All of this could tie into The Acolyte. As mentioned, Star Wars has previously explored elements of the light side of the Force through the Daughter and the Father, two other Mortis Gods. Other than the Son, the Mortis embodiment of the dark side, Star Wars has not delved into the Mother/Abeloth.
