While at STLV, we spoke with StarTrekProdigy executive producer Aaron J. Waltke (GoodAaron) about maintaining optimism for season 2 and his pride in the animated Star Trek show:

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek: Prodigy season 2's future is an optimistic one according to executive producer Aaron J. Waltke. Along with executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman, writer-producer Jennifer Muro, and composer Nami Melumad, Waltke appeared at STLV: 57-Year Mission in Las Vegas with good news for Star Trek fans at the convention.

The first season was very much about the aspirational. 'What if there was a new life for us here in Starfleet, in that place called the Federation'? Whereas this season is, 'Okay. We're in the Federation now. And we are working our way through Starfleet, we're no longer just the folks in command of our own ship going anywhere we want. We're now very much part of a very large organization with a lot of regulations and rules.

And I want to clarify something, actually, that does come up from time to time: that your show is canon. And so is Lower Decks. All animated Star Trek shows are canon. And that's what the Strange New Worlds crossover establishes, especially at the end. Yeah, animation is a medium, not a separate universe, not a separate dimension.

If Star Trek: Legacy happens, the idea of your characters popping up, theoretically, in the early 25th century is just it's such an exciting possibility. Just to see, like 30-year-old Dal. About Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2 Admiral Kathryn Janeway recruits the young ragtag former crew of the USS Protostar on a new mission aboard the USS Voyager-A to travel into an alternate future and rescue her dear friend, Captain Chakotay . Star Trek: Prodigy's remaining season 1 episodes come to Blu-ray on September 26, with the entire first season available on Digital now.
