In the second half of Saturday’s game, the Calgary Stampeders became the first team to score a rushing touchdown against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this season.
They did it twice, in fact, with Ka’Deem Carey smashing his way into the end zone on two occasions. That came back to haunt the Stamps in their 35-28 loss to the Bombers.
There wasn’t necessarily one thing that kept the Stamps out of the end zone in the first half, although the exceptional Bombers defence certainly deserves a lot of the credit. A nice knockdown by the Bombers’ Deatrick Nichols set up another Stamps field goal, and an offside penalty hurt them on their fourth field goal-ending drive.
