In the second half of Saturday’s game, the Calgary Stampeders became the first team to score a rushing touchdown against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this season.
“I mean, pretty sure you’re not going to beat them with field goals but credit to Rene again, I even put him out there for 53 and he nailed it,” said Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson, referring to the kicker’s“Was a back-and forth game. We coached hard, we played hard, but I just feel like we got beat.Article content
There wasn’t necessarily one thing that kept the Stamps out of the end zone in the first half, although the exceptional Bombers defence certainly deserves a lot of the credit. On another, their offence just stalled and quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell narrowly missed an open Reggie Begelton as the Bombers’ d-line collapsed on him.
“They are a very good defence when it comes to the greenzone,” Mitchell said. “We were the lone team that’s got down there as many times as we have. We pride ourselves on being able to put the ball in the end zone. I thought we did a good job getting the ball to Ka’Deem there at the end, both of those, because that guy’s got a nose for it for sure.”Article content
