The B.C. Lions have, arguably, the best defensive line in the CFL
That’s what happened the previous time these teams met. The Lions opened up a first-half lead and cruised to a comfortable 25-15 win at McMahon Stadium in the first game of the CFL season, while picking up three sacks and limiting Stamps QB Jake Maier to 160 yards through the air.
The defensive line has been a big part of that. The Lions are second in the league in sacks this season, with 25 — the Stamps also have 25 — and only the Bombers, with 27, have more.Article content Fortunately, the Stampeders’ offensive line has been doing a nice job of keeping Maier standing this season. They’ve allowed 16 sacks, which is the second-fewest in the league behind the Toronto Argonauts , and have generally been improving as the season progresses.Article content
With Ka’Deem Carey likely back for the Stamps after a stint on the six-game injured list, they’re going to be even more dangerous on the ground this weekend against the Lions.Photo by Darren MakowichukThe fight in the trenches figures to be huge, both for a Stamps team that’s coming off its biggest win of the season and a Lions team that was embarrassed by the Bombers, 50-14, last weekend.
