Stamps expecting the best from high-flying Argos D Stampeders CFL yyc
For a Stamps team that has sometimes felt like it hasn’t had its offence all on the same page, that means the opening quarter could be extremely important on Friday. They don’t want to fall behind against the Argos. They’ve seen what happens to teams that do.
“They’re active, they get after it. We’ve just got to take it to them,” said Stamps centre Sean McEwen. “They’ve been playing with the lead a lot, so it’s our job to get off to a fast start and execute and see what we can do from there. “It’s definitely a challenge, I think it’s something we’re up for. We’ve just got to go out there and play our game, we haven’t done a good job of that these last couple weeks, we have to play with confidence and go out there and execute.”Article content
The Stamps need to execute and, it’s important to note, avoid turnovers. Interceptions, in particular. Picks have been a thorn in the side of the team in recent weeks, and with 11 interceptions thrown this season, the Stamps are near the bottom of the league in that vital category.A big part of that is, again, they tend to be playing with a lead and opposing quarterbacks are forced into situations where they need to go for big, risky plays.“We’ve got to rise to the challenge,” Dickenson said. “We feel like we can get some things on them, but it’s going to be one of those games where they rise up.
