STAMPEDERS NOTES: Marken Michel all smiles in return to McMahon yyc
Injuries at the time played a part in that, though, and it’s not like those are the only guys Michel knows who are still around. Both Michel and fellow receiver Reggie Begelton missed the championship game because of injuries, but would have been on the field if they were healthy. Same goes for defensive lineman James Vaughters who, like Michel, returned this season after an NFL stint — Roberson and Begelton also had runs south of the border since 2018.
“Me and Reggie talk all the time, we never lost contact,” Michel said. “There’s still that brotherly love and brotherly rivalry. We still bicker back and forth, but it’s all love.”The question now is how long it’s going to take him to be ready to play. Could it be as early as Friday in Winnipeg against the Blue Bombers?Article contentThe Stamps could definitely use a player with his skill set and game-breaking speed. Fans will remember his big-play ability from back in 2017 and 2018.
They could definitely use him on Friday, although GM/head coach Dave Dickenson insisted a little caution was necessary.Article content “He’s working hard but when you get a new athlete or a new player, he’s got a lot of things to do,” Dickenson said. “He’s got to travel in, do his impact and concussion tests, go through his physical, so he’s had a lot on his plate. I thought he competed hard and is trying to get better. We’ll see how much we can get into his brain and see if he’s capable of playing.“I think he’s excited to play, but I have to be smart, too, I really do. I can’t put a guy out there who isn’t ready.
