Last night’s game nearly featured a rare goalie fight between Jordan Binnington and Marc-Andre Fleury.
The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington will have a hearing today in regard to his conduct during the Blues/Wild game on March 15.
As Wild forward Ryan Hartman put the finishing touch on the go-ahead goal to give the Wild the lead in the game, he nudged Binnington’s left pad as he skated by. The Blues’ goalie immediately took exception to that and spoiled Hartman’s goal celebration with some rough and tumble. The referee had to use all of his strength to prevent Binnington from escalating the event any further and as they glided down the ice together, Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury decided to get involved. Fleury skated across the ice to meet Binnington in the neutral zone but was stopped by a couple of referees getting in the way of them.
