SaltWire's Atlantic regional weather forecast for October 24, 2023 | SaltWireST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A St. John’s man who was accused of setting fires in multiple locations in the capital city pleaded guilty to a single count of arson in St. John’s provincial court on Oct. 23.
He went to the home to see what was going on and observed black smoke coming from the back deck area, where a shed was located.Read morePolice obtained a copy of the video footage and it showed a male carrying a gas can and a medium sized white rag approaching the shed and trying to open the door. “The male is seen walking away from the shed and the shed doors are closed. He has nothing in his hands. A short time later flames are shown coming from the top back rear of the shed along with heavy smoke.”
While they were waiting outside for Hayes to leave, another person approached police and told them they recognized the man from the image and that he was staying at the shelter.
