St. Augustine lands spot in 5-team Open Division playoffs, will host Valencia West Ranch
The good news is that St. Augustine High School, the runaway San Diego Section Open Division boys champion, will not have to travel to Sierra Canyon this season in the Southern California Regional playoffs.
Harvard-Westlake is seeded No. 3 and has a bye. St. John Bosco is seeded No. 2 and has a bye. Harvard-Westlake travels to St. John Bosco on Saturday.Centennial is No. 2, West Ranch is No. 3, St. John Bosco is No. 5 and St. Augustine is No. 6. The Saints, who played a national-type schedule, beat East Catholic, ranked No. 4 in Connecticut, Dougherty Valley, ranked No. 8 in California, JSerra, ranked No. 14 in the state; as well as Oak Ridge of Florida, St. Ignatius of Ohio, Centennial of Arizona, and every team it played in San Diego.
