Squamish RCMP is actively investigating a series of incidents where youths have been reported kicking doors at homes and businesses in the town. These acts have caused alarm and property damage, prompting the RCMP to seek the public's assistance in identifying those responsible.

Squamish RCMP officers are investigating a series of incidents where youths have been reported kicking doors at homes and businesses throughout the town. The issue has been highlighted on local online neighborhood forums, with residents sharing their experiences of these disturbing occurrences. Police acknowledge that these acts have caused both alarm and property damage within the community.

According to an RCMP news release, over the past several weeks, officers have received numerous reports of individuals riding e-bikes while wearing balaclavas and targeting homes by kicking doors in various neighborhoods. \Staff Sgt. Gareth Bradley stated in the release, 'These incidents are not only causing financial harm to property owners but are also creating fear and frustration within our community.' He emphasized the seriousness with which the RCMP is treating this behavior, assuring the public that they are working diligently to identify those responsible. The release also indicates that thanks to the assistance of local citizens, several young people suspected of involvement have been apprehended by officers. However, investigations are ongoing, and the RCMP warns that further enforcement actions may be taken as necessary. \The RCMP is urging parents and guardians to engage in conversations with their children about the consequences of their actions. They stress that, while some may perceive this behavior as a harmless prank, the damage and distress caused can have serious repercussions. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities immediately to the local RCMP and take preventive measures such as ensuring their doors and windows are locked and that exterior lights are functional. The police department concludes by stating, 'Together, we can ensure our community remains safe and welcoming for everyone.' This recent issue is not the first time in the past six months that the Squamish RCMP has publicly addressed concerning youth behavior. On Halloween night, officers responded to approximately 100 youths engaging in illegal firework displays, setting fires, and causing general mischief in the area. The RCMP reported at the time that a number of youths behaved aggressively towards officers, both physically and verbally. Fireworks were directed at police personnel and their vehicles. Additionally, some youths were found in possession of bear spray, bear bangers, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and wearing balaclavas. The RCMP is requesting anyone with information regarding these recent door-banging incidents or who can assist in identifying those involved to please contact the Sea to Sky RCMP-Squamish at 604-892-6100
