BC Hockey League regular season fast approaching; Kings open it on the road in Surrey

The Prince George Spruce Kings resume their BC Hockey League preseason schedule this Friday night at Kopar Memorial Arena when they face the Langley Rivermen in the first of two-game weekend set.

The Kings are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Surrey Eagles Saturday night in South Surrey. The Eagles scored five consecutive goals to welcome Prince George goalie Ryder Green to the game midway through. Green, a 17-year-old Prince George native, allowed five goals on eight shots while taking over in relief of 19-year-old Minnesota native Carter Wishart, who stopped all 21 shots he faced in a period and a half of game action.The teams will also meet Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kopar.The Spruce Kings opened the exhibition season on the road Friday with a 3-2 overtime win over the Coquitlam Express.

The Spruce Kings, who have shifted to the Mainland Division in the expanded 21-team BCHL, start the regular season next weekend with road games in Surrey, Chilliwack and Langley.
