Across the Spider-Verse could get even sadder.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse theory makes Miles Morales' new suit secretly heartbreaking. Shameik Moore's Miles Morales came back for another multiversal adventure in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, with Miles noticeably older and more mature in the sequel.
On TikTok, @dvmb_4ss shared a video theory that points out a possible secret inspiration behind Miles' new costume in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Miles Morales' sequel suit features red lines that run from his thighs to his armpits and then to his forearms and hands. The secretly heartbreaking detail comes from the Marvel fan noticing that Miles' Uncle Aaron, who died in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, had similar lines in his Prowler suit.
Miles' Suit Theory Makes 2 Across The Spider-Verse Scenes Way Worse When Miles, Gwen Stacy, and Pavitr Prabhakar meet Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk, for the first time in the movie, there is a moment focused on the young Spider-Man's new suit. Upon taking a look at Miles' suit, Hobie makes fun of it, asking if he is bleeding from his armpits, a joke about the new red lines of Miles' upgraded suit.
The moment later gets repeated when Jake Johnson's Peter B. Parker sees Miles at the Spider Society's HQ. Peter again comments on how it looks like Miles is bleeding from the armpits, this time while raising Miles' arms to see it better, before rapidly spinning him and telling Miles that they will get him a new suit and that he shouldn't worry about it.
While Hobie's remark about Miles' new suit and Peter later doubling down on it were played off as jokes, the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse suit theory makes the comments way worse. If Miles really did make the changes to his Spider-Man suit as a way of honoring his late Uncle Aaron, then the comments about him looking like he is bleeding from his armpits become way more brutal.
