Going off the deep end as he hunts down those who have done him wrong, Spider-Man dons his infamous black suit — a costumed representation of the darkest parts of himself — buries Kraven alive, and then, in a disturbing act of violence, beats Norman within an inch of his life. And it’s here, in the aftermath of these events, where Spider-Man’s new Green Goblin-inspired costume debuts, bringing Peter more in line with a deadly criminal who has destroyed his life more times than he can count.
A terrifying look that combines Spider-Man’s black costume with Oscorp’s glider cum jetpack, this moment marks the return of a more violent and deranged Spider-Man not seen since Peter's first days under the corruptive influence of his symbiote suit.
So while it remains to be seen what line this villainous version of Spider-Man is willing to cross, it’s almost certain that Peter Parker will never be the same after he finds a way to return to his senses. The Green Goblin may technically be dead, but with Spider-Man failing to hold back the dark influences of Norman’s sins, Spidey getting a nightmare-fuel upgrade should be the least of fans’ worries.
