Saturday games at Langley Events Centre

Three Island teams played in B.C. boys’ high school basketball championship games Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

Second-ranked Spectrum, making its first appearance since the 1990s, defeated the Tamanawis Wildcats of Surrey 92-72 in the Quad-A championship game for their first ever title. Oak Bay, ranked No. 1 heading into the provincial championship tournament, defeated the West Vancouver Highlanders 85-53 in the Quad-A bronze-medal game.

The Dover Bay Dolphins defeated the Mennonite Educational Institute Eagles of Clearbrook 75-61 in their final to win the provincial Triple-A championship. Brentwood College lost 71-64 to the Collingwood Cavaliers of West Vancouver in the Double-A championship game.
