Alan Mullen, legislative Speaker Darryl Plecas’ special adviser, became involved in the case of a Victoria couple who are being evicted by a judge from a housing co-op.
“And like any of us would do if a friend or co-worker is in need and asked for some help, we would give it. And that’s how I became involved.” In her ruling on the Armstrong case, Justice Barbara Young dismissed their appeal of a decision by the co-op’s board last year to terminate their membership following allegations that Ron Armstrong was approaching young girls in an inappropriate manner, which made the girls and their parents uncomfortable.
“I know Ron and I don’t think there’s anything malicious about the guy,” said Mullen. “Like I said, we’re talking about a senior citizen here with some mental health concerns. It sounds like some of those interactions were taken in a way that they were certainly not meant.”
