The study about the European Space Agency's ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter's findings published Monday in the journal Nature Astronomy. Earth's polar green glow happens when electrons from space collide with our upper atmosphere, but the atmospheres of Earth and Mars both glow during the day and at night thanks to sunlight.
