Lynyrd Skynyrd will now perform two concerts at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in the fall -- one at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, and one at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6.
“It’s about the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and what it stands for, what the fans are all about. There’s nothing like getting out there playing a great show with Skynyrd and seeing people love this music,” said lead singer Johnny Van Zant.
Rossington helped write the classic answer song “Sweet Home Alabama” and played unforgettable slide guitar on the rock anthem “Free Bird.” Rossington once told “Rolling Stone” that he never considered Skynyrd to be a tragic band, despite all the band’s drama and death.
