Ten municipalities on Vancouver Island are urging the provincial government to postpone its plan to shift the costs of 911 dispatch services onto them. Beginning April 1, these municipalities will be responsible for E-Comm dispatch services, leading to property tax increases ranging from 2.7% to 6%. The municipalities argue that the province should continue funding 911 dispatch until a review of E-Comm's financial sustainability is complete.
