Netflix has finally announced the official release date for the upcoming premiere of Sonic Prime Season 2.
The series is scheduled to return on July 13, 2023, with new episodes. The Sonic Prime Season 2 release date comes after five months since the 8-episode first season of the animated TV adaptation of SEGA’s“The action-packed adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog go into overdrive when a run-in with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event,” reads the logline.
The series is being animated at WildBrain. Additional executive producers include Erik Wiese, Josh Scherba, Anne Loi, Stephanie Betts, Logan McPherson, Haruki Satomi Yukio Sugino, Shuji Utsumi, and Toru Nakahara. Sonic the Hedgehog was first seen in 1991 on the SEGA Genesis. Since then, the character was inducted into the “World Video Game Hall of Fame” in 2016 at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. The video game was also adapted into two live-action movies starring Ben Schwartz and James Marsden. The film franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of over $700 million. The third installment is now in-development along with a Knuckles spin-off series for Paramount+.
