Few are better able to comment on Sonic Boom than Stefan Hintersteininger, teacher, performing cellist, composer and, until his recent move to the University of B.C. a few months ago, a stalwart of the Vancouver branch of the Canadian Music Centre, our unique resource for the encouragement of new music.
A: Vancouver Pro Musica, and Sonic Boom in particular, are highly democratic institutions. By this I mean that the programming offers equal opportunities to all B.C. composers, from the very young student — I believe that the festival regularly includes composers in their teens — to the highly seasoned professional composer.
