Here's what WHO suggests that we do to help take care of each other, in honor of WorldSuicidePreventionDay

The World Health Organization has a somber reminder this World Suicide Prevention Day: Despite the progress many countries have made to address suicide, one person still takes their own life every 40 seconds.

And while low- and middle-income countries see 79% of suicides, the high-income countries have the highest rates of suicide, at 11.5 per 100,000 people. WHO also reported that almost three times as many men as women die by suicide in high-income countries, whereas the rate is more equal in low- and middle-income countries.

“Every death is a tragedy for family, friends and colleagues. Yet suicides are preventable,” said WHO director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a statement. “We call on all countries to incorporate proven suicide prevention strategies into national health and education programs in a sustainable way.”
