Nova Scotia Health continues to work to obtain locum service and recruit to fill two vacancies
At the Yarmouth Regional Hospital some elective surgeries have been canceled this month due to unavailable anesthesiology resources. The hospital is currently recruiting for two anesthesiologist vacancies. The site is being supplemented with locum support. TINA COMEAU PHOTOYARMOUTH, NS – Some elective surgeries at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital have been cancelled this month due to the situation involving anesthesiology resources – more specifically, the need for these resources.
“Anesthesiologists are a high needs specialty for Nova Scotia – as well as other jurisdictions – and, in addition to the two in Yarmouth, we are working to fill a number of vacancies province-wide,” said Nova Scotia Health spokesperson Krista Keough.Halifax hospitals at 'serious overcapacity' amid surge of complex cases
“Nova Scotia Health continues to work to obtain locum service and recruit to fill these vacancies,” noted its statement. “I had just gotten into the driveway at home when he called for me to go back to pick him up,” she said.
