As the Sierra digs out from under one of the biggest snowstorms in years, routes in and out of the Tahoe Basin are slowly reopening.
Late Monday, all lanes of Highway 50 reopened from Placerville to Meyers, making this the most expedient route into the Tahoe area. Shortly before 7 a.m., however, a semi-truck jackknifed across traffic on Highway 50 near 33 Mile Stone. CHP is currently holding traffic in both directions there to clear the accident.
Also now open is State Route 267 from Truckee to the State Route 28 junction. Still closed, with no estimated times of reopening, are: -I-80 from Colfax to the Nevada state line. There are downed trees and power lines across the route, making reopening more complicated.-State Route 89 from Eagle Point Campground to D.L. Bliss State Park-State Route 70 from Jarbo Gap to Greenville Wye. This closure is due to a mudslide.
