The paper, published in the Proceedings of the Japan Academy, is among the first analyses of the asteroid dust and pebbles that were carried byand dropped off in the Australian outback in December 2020. Hayabusa2 collected 5.4 grams of material from Ryugu, equivalent to one-fifth of an ounce or the weight of around five raisins. They were the first significant-sized samples from an asteroid after an earlier Japanese probe collected tiny grains.
