Gloria Vanderbilt — socialite, model, designer, interior design legend — has died at 95, her son Anderson Cooper confirmed on CNN. “Gloria Vanderbilt was an extraordinary woman who loved life and lived it on her own terms,” Cooper saidAs a descendant of Cornelius Vanderbilt, one of the richest men in America in the late 1800s — Gloria had been in the public eye since birth. A 1934over who would raise her when her father died was “the O.J. case of its day, except bigger,” according to Cooper.
But it was in the 1970s, when she began designing clothing, that Vanderbilt truly became a fashion icon.
