A Southern California doctor with ties to Ukraine is joining the humanitarian relief efforts to help Ukrainian war refugees amid the Russian invasion.
LOS ANGELES -- Relief efforts are underway across Southern California to provide comfort and support to those caught in the middle of the violence after Russia invaded Ukraine.
Pilyugina's parents still live in Ukraine, three hours outside of Kyiv. She put out an email to her patients at the Assil Eye Institute asking them to donate items to send to her homeland. Her patients responded with boxes and bags of goods to send. One came to her appointment dressed in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
