Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather, Environment Canada says

Multi-day lake effect snow squall event expected beginning today.

Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 15 to 30 cm possible by Wednesday. Significantly reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.Discussion: Lake effect flurries and snow squalls will continue to be heavy at times through Wednesday and possibly continue late in the week as strong northwesterly to westerly winds persist.

Road closures are possible during this week, especially over areas that receive multiple snow squall bands. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Road closures are possible.

Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
