Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for areas north of Montreal River Harbour, warning of 15 to 25 cm of lake-effect snow from Lake Superior beginning Tuesday afternoon and lasting through Wednesday. Strong winds could lead to blowing snow, reducing visibility and making travel hazardous.
If you're heading north of the city Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday, conditions could be hazardous along Highway 17.It says lake-effect snow off Lake Superior could drop 15 to 25 cm Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
"Westerly or southwesterly winds gusting to 50 km/h may result in local blowing snow, especially for exposed areas near Lake Superior," the weather advisory said. Wawa - Pukaskwa Park, Ont. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Road closures are possible.
