Snapshots: Ottawa Senators face Pittsburgh Penguins, the latest in a long line of 'must wins'

It’s now or never for the Ottawa Senators.

The site Moneypuck.com gave the Senators a less than one percent chance of making the playoffs Sunday morning. The Penguins are just one hurdle, the Senators are six points behind the Florida Panthers with the Washington Capitals and Buffalo Sabres also in front of Ottawa.

“We’ll keep saying as long as we’re trucking and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of these coming up,” said veteran defenceman Travis Hamonic following the club’s 5-4 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday at the Canadian Tire Centre.Article content “There’s no sugarcoating our schedule,” Hamonic said. “But to get in you’ve got to play some good hockey and you might as well try chipping away against some of the best teams in the league.”“We expect a good game from our group. Even the last time we were in we really didn’t play to our standards,” Hamonic said. “I think we’ve got to go in there and pitch a way better game as a group and we’ll be ready.

Coach D.J. Smith was running out of options, but noted he likely would have gone to rookie centre Ridly Greig if it had gone another round.
