SNAPSHOTS: Markstrom outstanding as in Flames' 1-0 shootout win over Wild
The question now is whether it was too little, too late, for the Flames.Markstrom stopped all 40 shots the Wild threw his way in regulation and overtime and then three of the four attempts they had in the shootout. Again, he was exceptional.scored in the fourth and sudden-death round of the shootout for his second game-winner in as many nights. It was as hard as it gets, but the Flames somehow managed to secure four points from two back-to-back games in Dallas and Minnesota on Monday and Tuesday.
Fortunately, though, the Flames have a couple of winnable games coming up. On paper, they be able to pick points up against the Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators and Arizona Coyotes, all teams outside the playoff picture who happen to be their next three opponents. “He’s a great goaltender and I know he’s hard on himself and he’s maybe not had the year he’s wanted to have, but we all believe in him in this room,” Flames defenceman MacKenzie Weegar told Sportsnet 960. “I hope this helps his confidence and we can build on it as a team, because he bailed us out hard tonight.”Article content
