Dropping two points to the Flyers is frustrating. That would have been true regardless of how it happened. In the second, though, the Flames seemed to take their foot off the gas. That allowed Nicolas Deslauriers to score a second, and while the red-hot Mikael Backlund pulled the Flames to within one, Tony DeAngelo restored the two-goal cushion before the period was through.
In between the goals, the Flames created plenty of chances. Dillon Dube had a breakaway. Backlund had a great opportunity on the doorstep in the first period. Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri couldn’t convert on a two-on-zero. Blake Coleman hit the post on a breakaway of his own.Article content
