"We're just playing hard and not giving up," said Smithson Valley sophomore Madeline Haun, who was the winning pitcher in the 12-1 victory."We started the season slowly , but we worked on what we needed to in order to get better, we pushed hard and it's paid off for us." While Haun and Capek were helping keep the Tigers' bats quiet, the Rangers' offensive attack scored 16 runs and pounded out 23 hits in the two games. Six players had at least one hit in Game 1 and seven of Smithson Valley's hitters had at least one hit in the nightcap.

"We're reading a book called 'The Coffee Bean' and it's an analogy of what happens to coffee or an egg or other things when you put it in boiling water and how it changes into something different," said Wolf, whose team has won eight of its last 10 games and 10 of its last 12."It's something we do whenever we're together, whether it's in practice or games.
