'Sleepwalking' Man United are 'becoming Liverpool of the 90s' with no trophy in five years MUFC
Manchester United are ‘sleepwalking’ their way to becoming Liverpool of the 1990s and a true fallen giant after their latest trophy failure.on Friday night, leaving their hopes of ending the club’s trophy drought this season hanging by a thread.
“There are so many things you have to get right and challenges for a football club to have success, and Manchester United feel like they’ve been sleepwalking for a long time,” said the Weekend Sports Breakfast host. “They were always battling. They won the Champions League with Rafa Benitez and they won other other trophies with other managers, Gerard Houllier won a few.
“Under Fergie, success for the football club was challenging to win titles, and they did – the Premier League and the Champions League – the top honour.“If you go to Old Trafford now, it’s not the Manchester United of years gone by. I know people call me a dinosaur, but it’s so different. “Sir Alex Ferguson brought a culture to the club, and then whoever came in afterwards had to create their own culture, so it had to be the right man,” he said on the Sports Bar.
