Skye Consort and Emma Björling will perform their rendition of chamber folk music, Trans-Atlantic, across Nova Scotia from Aug 9 to Aug. 14. UnsplashHALIFAX, N.S. — Montreal’s Skye Consort and Swedish singer Emma Björling will tour Nova Scotia as part of the Musique Royal’s 37th Summer Festival.
In a news release, organizers said the group will perform their rendition of chamber folk music, Trans-Atlantic, across the province from Aug. 9 to Aug. 14. The group will make six stops performing in historic venues in Margaretsville, Arichat, Baddeck, Maitland, Wolfville, and Lunenburg.St. John’s Centre for the Arts, Arichat – Aug. 10High Tides Arts and Community Centre, Maitland – Aug. 12With an intoxicating mix of polkas, groovy reels, love songs, and hymns Skye Consort and Emma Björling will have audience members enchanted with their unique twist on Celtic and traditional music from Quebec, Sweden, and Norway.
With voices, fiddle, nyckelharpa, cello, and cittern, the collaboration has been called breathtaking by CBC Music on their recent album and Sweden’s Lira Music Magazine praised them saying ‘it would be hard to find something better than this’.
