Police are awaiting post\u002Dmortem and toxicology test results to provide information on the possible cause of the deaths.
Police said the first person was found around 5 p.m. on Thursday, during an aerial search being conducted at AMPS request by the Canadian Coast Guard. The search was continued on the water and ground by the AMPS marine unit, with help from the coast guard and Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department.
The AMPS said it would request help from the Sûreté du Québec and the Ontario Provincial Police air-support units to continue its investigation. Police are awaiting post-mortem and toxicology test results to provide information on the possible cause of the deaths. Police said investigators are also attempting to determine the identities of the deceased, and their status in Canada. The coast guard had responded to an AMPS request earlier on Thursday to help locate a missing man, Casey Oakes, 30. Based on how the statement about the deceased people was written, Oakes has not been identified as one of them and remains missing.Share this article in your social network
