As part of the 2022-23 Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program, the Lions Club of Twillingate is receiving $27,859 to expand its Community Wheels Project, which provides free transportation for seniors. Facebook photoHAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. — Six community transportation projects have been awarded up to $100,000 in funding through the 2022-23 Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program.

“This contribution will help us immensely in bringing this project to fruition,” said Happy Valley-Goose Bay Mayor George Andrews. The St. George's Indian Band Council will also receive $100,000 to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van for the K'Taqmkuk Transportation and Support Service, as well as the Emergency Home Program.

The Lions Club of Twillingate will receive $27,859 to expand its Community Wheels Project, which provides free transportation for seniors, the Town of Harbour Breton will receive $25,394 to continue its Coastal Rides Community Transportation Program, and Bay St. George South Ride for Ages will receive $11,832 to expand its weekly services to include youth and family activities.
