Photo: ANGELA WEISS/AFP via Getty Images Governor Cuomo announced on Wednesday that a total of six people in New York have tested positive for the COVID-19 novel coronavirus, including five cases of community transmission linked to a Westchester resident — and that “dozens and dozens” of additional cases should be expected to turn up.
Health officials do not yet know how the man contracted the coronavirus, indicating that it was a case of community transmission, which means that the virus has been spreading in the New York City area undetected for an unknown amount of time. Both the man’s 22-year-old son and another man who worked at the same Manhattan law office attend Yeshiva University. The school has canceled classes at its Washington Heights campus as a precaution.
