Now known as Hurricane Harbor, Six Flags Fiesta Texas' water park has added more attractions ahead of its April 29 opening.
, which it describes as"the world's first single-rail racing coaster," and a 5,000-square-foot esports facility with gaming PC and console stations and a stage for tournaments.
Attendance at Six Flags Entertainment Corp.'s 27 parks has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. The company reported 20.4 million people visited its parks last year, down 37.8 percent from 2019 and 26.4 percent from 2021. The Arlington-based company attributes the lower attendance to a new pricing strategy spearheaded by president and CEO Selim Bassoul. Six Flags is increasing ticket prices and cutting free tickets and heavily discounted pass options while continuing to add new attractions at parks, such as esports facilities.SeaWorld Entertainment Inc., which owns SeaWorld and Aquatica San Antonio, and Cedar Fair Entertainment Co.
About 21.9 million people visited SeaWorld's 12 parks in 2022, a 3 percent decline from 2019. Cedar Fair's 13 properties drew 26.9 million people, down 4 percent over the same period. Both companies said international and group travel has not yet recovered.
