The province’s police watchdog is continuing to investigate a fatal officer-involved shooting in Malton on Saturday night.

at around 5 p.m. for a person in crisis.

Const. Sarah Patten previously said that police believed the man, who had a medical condition and was not taking his medication, had access to weapons inside the residence. The SIU said an interaction occurred between officers and the man, which resulted in police deploying a conducted energy weapon at the man and firing plastic projectiles at him.

"They kicked the door open and they said, 'Drop it.' As soon as they said drop it, they started shooting. What conversation is that," he asked.
