Halifax police investigating Monday morning Dartmouth death as suspicious | SaltWire #newsupdateBo Bichette has said it more than once this spring: It’s time to stop talking about the Blue Jays and time to start playing.

In 2021, before Marcus Semien won the World Series in Texas last fall, he called that edition of the Jays the best team he has ever played on.They are the team Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins let slide. They shot for the moon with Shohei Ohtani in free agency and, when they did not get to spend their $700 million, they instead spent money on 39-year-old Justin Turner, on mediocre third baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa, brought back veteran centre fielder Kevin Kiermaier.

The outfield will be spectacular defensively, which is nice, but Kiermaier has never been much of an offensive player and Springer, who will be 35 when the season ends, played in his most games in seven years and hit the fewest home runs, with the lowest batting average and lowest OPS in 11 big league years. Varsho had an OPS of .674.This could be the best defensive outfield in baseball and also the worst offensive one.

Where is the offence Shapiro and Atkins promised — unless it comes from huge seasons of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bichette, and a whole lot of hope. Guerrero can be better and should be better than he has been in recent seasons, but two men aren’t about to carry an offence. Maybe he can’t return to what he was when he was miked up at the all-star game. Maybe that will never happen again.
