Sooke RCMP officers conducted two raids last week, resulting in a major seizure of drugs and cash. The operation targeted an alleged drug distribution network, leading to the arrest of two individuals.

Police in Sooke , British Columbia, recently executed two search warrants resulting in a significant seizure of illegal drugs and cash. The raids took place on January 30th at properties located on Kemp Lake Road and Walse-A Road. During the searches, officers discovered approximately 3.5 kilograms of various illicit substances, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. While the exact quantities of each drug were not disclosed, the RCMP emphasized the substantial nature of the find.

In addition to the drugs, police seized a considerable amount of Canadian currency, counterfeit U.S. dollars, a money counter, and other items that indicated the operation of an illicit drug distribution network. Sooke RCMP Staff Sgt. Greg Willcocks described the seizure as significant for the community. He highlighted the rapid growth of Sooke and the detachment's commitment to establishing specialized teams dedicated to combating drug operations. Willcocks stated that the RCMP will continue to target these activities and ensure that those involved in the distribution of dangerous and illegal drugs are held accountable. Two individuals were arrested during the raids: a 53-year-old male resident of Sooke and a 33-year-old female with no fixed address. Both were apprehended without incident and subsequently released on conditions pending their next court appearance scheduled for April 10th. A multi-agency response was involved in executing the search warrants. Officers from Sooke RCMP, the Island District RCMP Emergency Response Team, the Island District General Investigation Section, and the Island District RCMP Forensic Identification Section collaborated on the operation
