Two mountain lion sightings – one on Wednesday night and another on Thursday morning – prompted a caution from Sierra Madre police. Authorities were monitoring on Thursday.

SIERRA MADRE — Authorities on Thursday, Feb. 22, advised residents that a mountain lion was seen in the city, the second of two sightings in the span of around 12 hours, officials said.
In September, a woman in a home just down the street from City Hall discovered a bear that had apparently found its way to some mangos before being politely removed by California Department of Fish and Wildlife and police officials, who had issued a warning for residents to avoid the area. In the case of mountain lions, sightings are relatively rare in the city. But in the latest reports, they were in an area right up against the hillsides, near some undeveloped open space, Carlson said.Do not jog or hike alone. Go in groups with adults supervising children.
Do not approach a lion. Most mountain lions will try to avoid a confrontation. Give them a way to escape.
