Crosby recorded his 1,034th career assist during the Penguins' 3-2 win over the New York Islanders on December 29, 2024. The milestone prompted a standing ovation from the crowd at the Pittsburgh arena. Crosby is now ranked 12th in NHL history for assists. Only three players have more assists with a single team: Ray Bourque, Wayne Gretzky, and Steve Yzerman.
