Retiree Marija Perkovic has won the $250,000 top prize in the Instant Crossword Deluxe game, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announced Tuesday.
Perkovic said in a statement she was still thinking about what to do with those winnings, but had already delighted in surprising her husband with the good news. “My husband was away for work so I waited a whole day for him to come home so I could tell him in person,” she said. “It was killing me, but I wanted to see his reaction.”She added the prize represents her first major win after playing the lottery one and off for around two decades.
The winning ticket was purchased at Skaf's Just Basics on Hodder Avenue in Thunder Bay, OLG reported.
