Nate Marsh and Landon Ford select their favourite book to read while waiting for their turn to take the stage at the Bras d’or Elementary school concert. CONTRIBUTED - CONTRIBUTEDAfter a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the annual Christmas concert returned live and in person this season to schools across Cape Breton.

“This is the first live Christmas concert in three years, so the level of excitement is very high. The students and staff really get excited. The atmosphere at the school during the weeks leading up to the concert is always upbeat and happy,” Kublek said. Students in grades Primary to five arrived at the school dressed in their finest festive attire. There was plenty of sparkle and lots of shine. They came to the concert ready to impress and so they did.

“Each year, we like to involve the students in choosing the songs they will be performing during the concert. We appreciate their input and want them to be a part of selecting the songs they will sing. “While we were careful to include in the program a number of familiar seasonal songs, this year was special in that there were songs included in the program that paid tribute to not only the traditional holiday season, but other cultural celebrations as well,” Billard explained.
