Sheriff's detectives looking for suspect in kidnapping of 3-year-old who is back home safe [Breaking]
Sheriff’s officials on Tuesday asked for the public’s help to find a 46-year-old man wanted in connection with kidnapping the son of his former girlfriend.The man, Donta Law, was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build, short black hair and a mustache and goatee. He is being sought on suspicion of felony vandalism and kidnapping.The incident began Monday around 10:30 p.m. when the child’s mother arrived at her Vista home and discovered her child was missing.
Donta Law, is wanted on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend’s 3-year-old boy. The boy was found and returned to his mother. The woman told sheriff’s officials she had had a confrontation with Law, her ex-boyfriend, earlier in Oceanside during which Law allegedly smashed the woman’s car windows. He was not supposed to contact the woman because of a restraining order, Gathings said.After she reported her son was missing, deputies searched for the child in the area with the assistance of a sheriff helicopter. They also searched areas Law was known to frequent.
Gathings said Law’s parents assisted in the effort to locate the child. Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Law dropped the boy off with his mother in Oceanside at the transit center. Deputies then reunited the child with his mother. Anyone with information on Law is asked to call sheriff’s officials at 565-5200 or San Diego Crime Stoppers at 580-8477, where tips can be made anonymously. Tips that lead to a felony arrest could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
