Sheriff's Dept.: 3-year-old shoots, fatally injures 1-year-old sister in Fallbrook [Breaking]

A 3-year-old child shot and killed a 1-year-old sibling with a handgun Monday morning that had been left unsecured in a Fallbrook home, sheriff’s authorities said.

The shooting happened at a residence on Stagecoach Lane near Reche Road around 7:30 a.m., the county Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. It was not immediately clear who reported the shooting or where the children’s parents were at the time of the incident.Advertisement The child was taken to Palomar Hospital where she died an hour later. The Sheriff’s Department did not release the name of the child who was fatally injured.
